About The Club

The Macleod Netball Club was formed in 1951, and since that time has seen a continual growth from 10 players to over approximately 200

The Club started playing competitions with the Baptist Church or Christ, run by the affiliated Churches Basketball Association, at that time we were known as the Macleod Uniting Netball Club.

Due to no home venues at that time our players and parents used to travel to East Preston, Essendon, Bundoora, Aberfeldie, Sunshine just to name a few.

In 1980 we joined a competition run by the Victorian Churches Netball Association, where we continued to travel to places like Heathmont, Bayswater, North Balwyn and Ringwood. In 1987 the Association obtained the use of 6 courts at the Koonung High School, where they moved their teams from our side of town to play.

In 1997 we left the association to play with the Doncaster & Districts Netball Association, where we are still playing, we also changed our name to just the Macleod Netball Club, we still have ties with the church, but not as much as we did in the early years.

In 1998 we formed our own Association - the Banyule & Districts Netball Association visit their site www.banyulenetballassociation.org.au, looking towards a Indoor Stadium we were asking council to build in the Banyule Community.

With the help of the Banyule Council and Macleod College, this venue was completed in May 2003.

The Macleod Netball Club has 24 teams playing in 2009 ranging in ages from 9 and Under's to Open Seniors and Over 35's

We boast players from our club who have and are still playing in various association Representative Teams

The Macleod Netball Club prides itself on being a family club, and works hard to achieve this goal.
